Anutz Lake is connected by a short river to the very long Nimpkish Lake (fully armored fish), which then has a very short river connection to the Johnstone Strait ocean channel. Anutz Lake fish have a high prevalence of Schistocephalus solidus parasites and glugea microsporidians. A genome sequence for the population is in progress.
